Harry, aged ten, lives in a house with his furious uncle and aunt as well as Dudley. Harry meets a friendly snake at the zoo when they are celebrating Dudley’s 10th birthday. He is able speak with the friendly snake, and seems to have removed its glass cage to allow it to return to Brazil. Harry starts to receive strange letters after the trip. Harry’s uncle, Mr. Dursley tries desperately to hide these letters from Harry. The letters continued to arrive so quickly that Mr. Dursley could no longer control them. Hagrid arrives on Harry’s Birthday to deliver Harry’s letter and to tell him that he’s now a wizard and is admitted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Dumbledore praises Ron for his victory against Quirrell. Gryffindor scores a lot of Gryffindor points. The Gryffindor students win the Gryffindor Cup and pass their exams. After the summer, they part ways at Hogwarts’ train station. Harry, who is reluctant to return to Dursleys for the summer, tells his parents that their life will be easier now that Harry has learned magic.
