His music is heavily influenced by gospel, soul, electronic, hip-hop, and pop. Kanye’s vast musical influences have earned him 21 Grammy Awards and made him one the most popular music artists. Kanye’s gospel-affiliated rap songs are well-known. Kanye is extremely outspoken about God and his relationship. Many of his greatest hits include strong references to God and spirituality. Kanye West’s album The Life of Pablo hit the shelves on February 14th 2016. It quickly rose to number one. “Ultralight Beam,” which has both gospel and biblical influences, quickly became a fan-favorite. The song features Chance The Rapper and The-Dream. “Ultralight Beam”, which Kanye uses to express his faith and relationship, draws on additional information. KanyeWest compares his life with Saint Paul the apostle in “Ultralight Beam”. The Bible reveals that Saint Paul the Apostle was originally called Saul and was travelling to Damascus as a persecutor of Christ believers. An ultralight beam from Heaven struck him on the way. He was then blinded for three weeks. Saul was able to see again and changed his name into Paul. Then he decided to dedicate his life to God. He became a significant influence on early religion ideology. 13 of the 27 books that make up the new testament are his own. Kanye wants to live a similar life to Saint Paul in that he hopes to have a major influence on Christianity. Kanye hopes to shine a spotlight on people the way God shined a beam on Saul. “Ultralight Beam” Kanye uses to explain his struggles with faith and his relationship with God. Kanye sings in “We on a ultralight beam”, which is West. He hopes that the song will help people relate to his experience and allow them to grow in their faith. Kanye is often referring to Saint Paul’s story throughout the song. “Ultralight Beam” also references Saint Paul the Apostle. Chance the Rapper uses verses of the Bible to create his unique rap style. Chance the Rapper, for example, refers to Saint Michael the Archangel by saying “foot on the Devil’s Neck ’til that drifted Pangea”. Saint Michael, the Archangel is the leader of the Army of God which defeated Satan. He was thus banished from heaven. He is often depicted as standing triumphantly over Satan. Chance the Rapper’s lyrics show that he imagines himself standing over Satan with one foot on his neck, much like Saint Michael. He claims he is so determined to cause continental drift by pushing down so hard. This reference highlights Kanye’s relationship to God. Kanye would like to lead God’s people and steer them away from Satan. Kanye is able to influence the world and help destroy Satan because of his large fan base. Kanye’s message is delivered in an original and thoughtful manner in Ultralight Beam. Chance the Rapper refers to another verse to help people be faithful and follow God. He also refers Genesis 19 to the story of Sodom-Gomorrah. The story reveals that God planned to destroy Sodom, and Gomorrah for the sin and evil that were living there. Despite the destruction of entire cities, Lot and his family managed escape thanks to their faith in God. They were told not to return to the once-evil, sabotaged towns after the destruction of the cities. Lot’s spouse couldn’t resist turning her back and pointing at Lot. She was transformed into a salt pillar. Chance the Rapper told his ex the bible story because she was “salty” that the man stayed on a straight path. Now he is a wealthy, loving father. He uses the metaphor to describe how his ex made a huge error. The song’s lyrics use supplemental information to illustrate how it indirectly refers to Kanye West and his relationship to God. “Ultralight Beam”, which depicts Kanye West as faithful and his kinship, relies on additional information. When you analyze the lyrics and find the underlying message, it is easy to see how much effort and time went into this song. Without knowing the deeper meaning of many lyrics, they are difficult to understand. There are many biblical references to the Bible in the Bible’s old and new testaments. It is important that the song relies on biblical references for its success. “Ultralight Beam”, at the 2017 Grammys was nominated both for “Best Rap Song”, as well “Best Rap/Sung performance.” Kanye tweeted that Ultralight Beam had been voted “Best Rap Song” and “Best Rap/Sung Performance”. It is clear that “Ultralight Beam”, with its heavy gospel influence, sends a powerful message to listeners. The new generation of hip-hop music tends to be more focused on the beat than on the lyrics. Kanye dispelled the stigma that rappers must be gangsters. Instead, he raps about crime, drugs, and women. Many of the most influential rappers today credit Kanye for his unique style and sound. Because of this, rap music has never been the same.
